Our Safety Culture

Castle Rock Construction Company of Colorado, LLC has increased our overall Safety awareness through diligent training, and accountability of field personnel and effective monitoring of all construction activities. Our Safety program has strengthened by implementing industry loss control strategy along with more stringent Claims Management techniques by working with Pinnacol’s team and our Agent CRS. By utilizing these industry techniques; our Experience Mod is now at .74.

Safety Program: Castle Rock Construction Company of Colorado, LLC is committed to the safety of our people, our subcontractors and the traveling public on our jobsites. Our Safety Program is based on limiting hazards through OSHA and MUTCD guidelines. We also follow all Colorado Best Practices, along with any Federal and or State guidelines concerning Safety. The Total object of any Safety Program is to send people home at night without injury. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

 

Our Program consists of the following goals:

  • Reduce Workplace injuries, illnesses and eliminate fatalities.
  • Improve safety and health for all workers by reducing exposure to hazards.
  • Improve our safety culture by increasing awareness, commitment, and involvement.
  • Foster organizational excellence through safety by developing new ideas and by maintaining OSHA programs and services.

Our Program consists of the following:

  • New Hire Orientation
  • On the Job Mentorship for New Hires to reduce New Hire Injury statistics: this is now at less than 3%.
  • Requirements of Pre-Task, Safety Meetings, Safety Audits and anyone can stop an unsafe act on our job site by our Subcontractors or our employees.
  • Specialized training is provided for Construction such as First Aid/CPR, Excavation and Trenching, Confined Space, etc..,
  • We run a Drug Free Workplace utilizing Pre Hire Drug testing, Random Drug testing and DOT regulated testing of all drivers.
  • Monitoring of the safety program is done by all Supervisors, the Safety Director and the Owners of our Company.

  • Respiratory Protection Program
  • Safety Training Program
  • Lock Out/ Tag Out
  • Silica Exposure Prevention
  • Emergency Action Plans
  • Fire Prevention Program
  • Job Hazard Analysis

The largest components in our program are our Employee’s commitment and the Management commitment to better the program.

The most important benefit of our Safety program is that all of our employees go home every night to their families. Our Company is a family orientated Company in that our employees are family. Our overall employee morale has increased through 0 fatalities, a reduction of injuries and improved overall safety awareness throughout our ranks. The residual benefit is a reduction in loss.

Loss Control: CRCC has taken proactive action by implementing a new hire mentorship program that consists of on the job training for the first 90 days of their employment by having our employees and supervisors mentor our new employees so they gain our perspective for Safety through implementation of our program and requiring their interaction with safety meetings and with Pre-task meets along with Supervisor Job Hazard Analysis. CRCC utilizes tools such as banners, stickers and warning signs on the jobsite to keep everyone aware of potential hazards and to keep Safety at the forefront of everyone’s mind.
